Graduation

Pomp and Circumstance...you would think it isn't necessary at a Master's/PHd level but yesterday it was impressive to see 178 people that have studied hard to gain greater knowledge of what Christ has done for us. We are called to speak out, go forth, and teach/preach the message. This is scary, powerful, alarming and important. But the highlight was losing my diploma before I left the building. But alas, I found it! After four years of study, it became important to walk forward and receive the diploma. I felt honored to be with such prestigeous people. Blessings, D

2007-8 Booklist

Third try! Bookclub selections for 2007-8 have been made and what a challenge. Each book was summarized and discussed and a final list made. Then we assign to a month, select a leader and finally choose to have a joke told before each meetings. Our selections range from World is flat(Friedman) non-fiction to the classic of Slaughterhous-Five (Vonnegut) and humour of Plato & Platypus Walk in the Bar (Cathcart). Some are hard and some are easy but we enjoy meeting once a month to discuss and find out how each is doing. Of course, we have a few parties during the year to keep life exciting. Did I miss anything gang? D

The First Day of the Rest of Your life

Here I sit, ready to graduate from Seminary and wonder what it is that God wants me to do. Four years of reading and the first thing I want to do is find a good book. I am not studious or a book worm but just love to learn, gain the knowledge that is in all those books! Gnosis is Greek for knowledge; we can never have enough knowledge about our environment, about ourselves or about why we do what we do. Luckily there is fiction which makes it so much easier to gain that insight. This is the first day of the rest of my life, a new beginning. A life of continuous learning and being open to what God is calling me to do. Blessings, D
